Since its inception in 1969, Sonics & Materials, Inc. has enjoyed over 5 decades of world leadership in the fields of liquid processing and ultrasonic welding, sealing and cutting technology. Manufacturing Divisions

Sonics is comprised of the following manufacturing divisions: Plastics Assembly, Liquid Processing, Metal Welding, and Ultrasonic Cutting and Sealing.

Liquid Processing

Sonics’ ultrasonic processors are the most reliable and technologically advanced in the industry. Available as laboratory bench models to high volume production units, they offer the widest range of processing capabilities and are backed by the best warranty in the industry (3 years, parts and labor).

Plastics Assembly

Sonics provides innovative and reliable plastics welding equipment for the joining of thermoplastic components, textiles, and other synthetic materials. Sonics offers a complete range of assembly equipment, tooling and systems, from hand-held units and bench-model presses to full in-line automated systems. Products include ultrasonic plastic welders, spin welders and vibration welder as well as ultrasonic kits and components.

Metal Welding

Sonics manufactures a full line of ultrasonic metal welding systems offering superior performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Sonics offers metal welders in 40, 20 and 15 kHz frequencies as well as custom-built horns and fixtures. Typical applications include wire splicing, wire termination, batteries, switches, tube sealing, and coils.

Ultrasonic Cutting and Sealing

Specialized equipment and components for packaging applications, food cutting, bonding, punching and slitting of textiles and non-wovens, and tire cutting. Systems and tooling are available in a variety of configurations from bench-top or hand-held units to kits and components for integration into OEM systems.

Our Leadership Team

Sonics is headed by CEO Robert Soloff and his daughter, Lauren Soloff, President. Robert Soloff founded the company in 1969 and Lauren Soloff transitioned from her law career to come on board in 1995. Working together, they have tripled the company’s annual sales over the last 20 years.

Sonics’ Corporate Headquarters is located in Newtown, Connecticut, USA and there are over 50 international distributors with locations in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Australia. This global network allows Sonics to provide fast response to our customers worldwide and guarantees them superior access and ease of doing business.

Sonics' Leadership Team

Patented Technology

Robert Soloff received his first patent in 1962 (for a sonic spray nozzle) and went on to invent the process of ultrasonic plastics welding one year later. After founding Sonics in 1969, and through the next 5 decades, he has continued his pioneering work in the field of ultrasonics, accruing an impressive 13 patents in his own name and overseeing an additional 18 company patents.
