Digital Amplitude Control, Convenient Frequency Display, and Smart-Logic Navigation in a compact new package on display at WestPack
(December 11, 2007 – Newtown, CT) Sonics & Materials, Inc. announces the full production launch of its newly designed line of compact GX-series microprocessor-controlled ultrasonic generators, featuring more power and state-of-the-art technological advances in a smaller, contoured package. Designed for Sonics’ 40 and 20 kHz welding frequencies, these streamlined power supplies are available in 2200, 1700, 1200, 800 and 400 watts for Sonics’ ultrasonic welding presses and actuators (both new and existing models). All GX units have automatic frequency tuning (matching the generator to the “stack” frequency) and come with Sonics’ latest pioneering innovation – a convenient horn frequency display.
The user-friendly GX-series delivers a robust combination of more power and control in an attractive space-saving package. In fact, all GX units are over 30% smaller than previous E & F models – a significant footprint reduction. The new GX-series line offers maximum versatility with a range of models offering options to weld by Digital Time, Energy, and/or Distance modes, as well as continuous duty. New digital amplitude control is also included on all models and amplitude setting is automatically saved in job memory.
System keypad navigation has been completely overhauled and re-designed from previous lines to feature simple, easy-to-understand language displays and intuitive, logical command flow. To make future enhancements and upgrades in the field quicker than ever, all units are configured to accept easy-to-load flash-ROM program updates.
Additional features include multiple job storage; calibration pulse prior to every weld cycle; ultrasonic output power meter; digital force triggering; PLC I/O ports for external job sequencing requirements; upper and lower weld limit settings; back-lit LCD display; and RS232 serial port printer output. All units include soft-start overload protection circuitry; load regulation circuitry; line voltage regulation circuitry; and good part / bad part output signaling.
