Fully Automatic Splice Set-Up with 100% Process Monitoring
(January 12, 2010 – Newtown, CT) Sonics & Materials, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of ultrasonic welding equipment, is pleased to announce its new 20 kHz ultrasonic wire splicing system capable of handling splices from 0.5 mm to 40 square mm and beyond.
The new system features the SmartControl ultrasonic power supply, offering microprocessor control with full-color touch screen operation. User-friendly navigation and vivid graphics highlight multiple menus designed for easy, fully automatic splice set-up and precision splice quality control.
Standard features include automatic frequency tuning; digital amplitude control; digital pressure setting; ultrasonic power graph; automatic sequencing between splice sizes; and a pre-weld height test to confirm proper loading.
The system’s patented self-orienting horn permits simple and precise tool change in under one minute and the patented one piece horn/booster construction eliminates horn deflection. The memory storage library can accommodate over 1000 preset splices including all weld parameters and quality limits. Memory storage handles 100 sequences with up to 16 splices in each sequence.
Additional features include automatic splice adjustment from 0 to 12 mm; automatic amplitude setting from 15 to 65 microns; and auto energy setting from 0 to 10,000 joules.
