Sonics to Celebrate 45th Anniversary

03/20/2014

Honored guests include Governor Malloy, Congresswoman Esty and First Selectman Llodra

Sonics & Materials, Inc. will be celebrating its 45th anniversary with a luncheon on March 20th, 2014 in Newtown, CT, where we will be marking 45 years of manufacturing in the state of Connecticut as a leading supplier of plastics welding systems and ultrasonic liquid processing equipment.

Sonics & Materials, Inc., a privately–held family-owned business, was started in 1969 in Danbury by Robert S. Soloff (founder and ongoing President and CEO) with 1 additional employee. Sonics has been located in Newtown for the last 16 years, currently employing a total of 75 people at our corporate headquarters along with a worldwide network of distributors and representatives.

During the past 45 years, Sonics has cemented its role as an industry pioneer, acquiring a total of 22 patents (plus 7 pending) for technological innovations, continuing the work started by Bob Soloff who in 1965 was awarded the original patent for the ultrasonic method of welding thermoplastic parts, a groundbreaking technique that is now used universally across many market sectors, including the automotive, life science, medical device and electronics fields.

As it happens, this anniversary celebration will happily coincide with a 75th birthday celebration for Bob Soloff.  The catered luncheon will begin at Sonics at 12:00 with a few brief testimonials and honored guest (the Governor, Congresswoman and First Selectman) remarks.
